Continuing story of switching ISPs
Today it is 3 months ago that we have sent out our first letter to Euronet to ask them to make the necessary changes for switching ISPs. It still is not working, but something has been done. Now, it is not working in a different way. Last Thursday, after 2 months and 3 weeks of inactivity, they have finally changed our MX-records so that the e-mail is not sent to the previous provider. Although our correspondence was very clear, they now send our mail to another machine. This machine does not belong to us.....

If you are looking for a new Internet Service Provider: you can have ours
Life of a young company is made miserable by large corporations. No I, do not mean competitors, I mean the telcos and ISPs that are supposed to provide you a service. This time it is the Dutch branch of Euronet, a subsidiary of Wanadoo, that is unable to process their mail and phone calls within a reasonable time. Six weeks ago we have sent them two letters.
The first letter asked for correcting the information they keep about us in their administration. Although all our prior correspondence used the correct data, they had managed to misspell the name of our company, my name and the company address. They did not act upon the phone call a few weeks before that, but now it seems they do not act upon anything at all. Yesterday I recevied their bill, still containing the incorrect information.
The second letter was a request to wrap-up our change of ISP. This one really pisses me off: it costs us money and valuable time. The letter was a sequel to an earlier letter posted on 2003.09.25. They did some of the required administrative changes, but not all of them. Therefore, I reiterated my request on 2003.11.03. Since then I have spoken numerous times with people at the sales department and at the support department, but to no avail.
To make matters worse, to do not even reply to official (snail) mail that they had to sign on receipt.
I really should stop paying them anytime soon, and keep this log alive for a very long time...
Next time I should tell you about KPN, UPC, Verisign and commercial banks.

On-coming subjects
A number of articles and blog scribbles are due to arrive in the coming days and weeks. I am thinking of writing the following items:
- Why debuggers decrease the quality of your code
-
The last thing we need is smarter software
- Waarom ik een spelling hanteer die niet volgens het groene boekje is [Dutch]

Welcome to Hello.nl!
Today is the birthday of my weblog. Maybe it is a coincidence, but people in the street are trooping the colours and the sun is shining brightly for a winter's day.
In Hello.nl, I shall share my ideas about software engineering, human computer interaction, programming languages, social software, industrial design, technology, arts, architecture, politics, entrepreneurship, innovation, linguistics and semiotics. I am sure I have forgotten some subjects.
Most of the entries in this blog will be in English, except for my thoughts that are related to Dutch politics or the Dutch language which are hardly relevant to the rest of the world.
